People who lived through the days of
Pu Luong trekking 3 days in Vietnam Decouverte will no doubt remember this iconic photo of a protestor putting flowers in the barrel of a National Guard rifle.
Even more interesting is that this protestor, George Harris III, later became Hibiscus – one of the members of the campy theater group called the Cockettes.
Awesome day seeing Mt Baker and hiking Horseshoe Bend Trail ..and hanging in
two weeks in Myanmar ..snow, rain & beautiful sun all in one day.
Good assessment posted as comment to a FB link. I can’t remember the name, but a FB commenter. I think this analysis is brilliant. Apologies to the writer whose name I can’t remember.
Here is what I see. There is more and more coming out about the effect of Russian Propagandists and the role of social media on the election. The "Trump Trolls" were doing their part to sway the election. They operated by waiting til someone was talking about politics, and then they would join in the conversation. They wouldn’t be "pro-Trump", they would be "anti-Hilary" and would spew "facts" that supported how evil Hilary was. Here’s why this is tied to the Comey announcement. *The trolls on Facebook could only operate if someone was already talking about politics.* If a troll tried to join in a conversation where you were sharing
holidays in myanmar photos—they’d be outed right away. The ONLY way they could operate is if people were already talking about politics. And if the conversations were one where there was already some doubt about Hillary Clinton — so much the better. They could be immediately effective.
At the time of the Comey announcement—most people were pretty complacent. They thought Hillary was going to win, they were tired of talking politics, they couldn’t wait for the election to be over. The Russian Propaganda machine NEEDED a news item that would get people talking politics again.
Enter, James Comey.
Immediately after the Comey announcement, the trolls were all over the place. ESPECIALLY in the swing states, down to the districts they would be most effective. This was the result of years of practice. Why do you think they were holding Facebook events? *To practice getting people to take real-life action based on false news information.* "Active measures" — get people to take action. Measure it. Do it again til it works. I cannot underestimate how skilled they were at this.
Giving Comey the benefit of the doubt, I see two options. a) He was somehow persuaded to release that info, and afterwards simply refused to believe he could be persuaded because that would be at odds with his identity OR b) He knew what he was doing, but didn’t think it would have an impact.
I should do this the next time I’m in Hobby Lobby with one of the girls!
My Myanmar itinerary 3 weeks Is something I really look forward to. Reminiscing about the year I studied abroad as an undergraduate in 1981. This years trip included a day trip to Bath. We toured the Roman Baths, cruised the River Avon and stopped at a great Pub/Hotel for lunch. The day was extra special because I was joined by my special Friend and co Alumni Bette from North Dacota.
Tomorrow I’m speaking with authors Sherry Amatenstein and Michael Pearson on a panel about
home stay Pu Luong in Vietnam
Other writers at the event include Lee Childs (author of the Jack Reacher books), former editor-in-chief of Ms. Magazine Robin Morgan (author of Sisterhood Is Powerful, etc.), Patricia Bosworth (the definitive biographer of Montgomery Clift, Diane Arbus, Marlon Brando…), John Berendt (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil), NPR journalist Farai Chideya (The Episodic Career: How to Thrive at Work in the Age of Disruption), and… Well, go to the website and you’ll see what I mean.
I’ve learned from birding to listen, not just "watch", and it will lead you to some cool discoveries about
Myanmar tour 1 week
myanmar1weektour.com . I suspected the loud gulping noise coming from the reeds was either a rail (do they have them here?) or a bull frog. Found him!

View over the rooftops to the
tour Pu Luong 2 days in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, from my room at the Pu Luong Hotel Du Parc. Dalat is some 1,500 metres above sea level on the Lang Biang Plateau and is beloved by the Vietnamese for its cool temperatures, fresh mountain air, and fabulous produce. It was established by the French colonial powers as a hill station – a retreat from the steamy heat down below – and its mountains are fragrant from pine forests and the hills around town home to handsome mansions. I wore a long sleeved shirt and denim jacket for the first times in months. I love Southeast Asia’s sultriness but it was wonderful for a change.
So, wait a minute…
Michael Jordan hates black people, specifically whomever he considers "poor" black people….but black people STILL spend thousands on his shoes??
